Photos from Channel3000.com tipsters nearby a fire scene Thursday morning show multiple fire trucks and crews at the Medical Sciences Building, 1300 University Ave., where the fire was reported.
Firefighters from multiple crews located the fire at the rear of the building (on the Linden Street side), began knocking down the blaze at 8:44 a.m. and had it extinguished by 9 a.m., department spokeswoman Lori Wirth said in a news release.

Wirth said fire damage was confined to a small area on the fourth floor, but smoke damage spread to multiple floors. No damage estimate was available as of 11:30 a.m. Thursday, and authorities said they're investigating the cause.
