Delays expected during East Johnson Street utility work

Utility companies will start installing buried facilities on East Johnson Street at Butler, Hamilton and Livingston streets on Monday, according to a release.

The project scheduled to start on Monday is in addition to the East Johnson Street reconstruction project that has preliminary start date of May 6, officials said.

Utility work schedule:

  • Monday thru April 4: Work will start in the intersection of East Johnson, North Butler and North Hamilton streets. East Johnson Street will be reduced to two eastbound lanes at the intersection. The north part of North Butler Street will be closed to through traffic.
  • April 4-6: Weekend work will be performed in the same intersection, including nighttime hours. East Johson Street will be reduced to one lane in the eastbound direction. The north part of North Butler and North Hamilton streets will be closed to through traffic.
  • April 7-11: Work at the intersection of East Johnson and North Livingston streets will start. Traffic on East Johnson Street will be reduced to one lane eastbound. The south part of North Livingston Street will be closed to through traffic.
  • April 11-13: Weekend work will be performed in the intersection of East Johnson, North Butler and North Hamilton streets. East Johnson Street will be reduced to one lane in the eastbound direction. The north part of North Butler and North Hamilton streets will be closed to through traffic.
  • April 14-18: Work at the intersection of East Johnson and North Livingston streets will continue. Traffic on East Johnson Street will be reduced to one lane eastbound. The north part of North Livingston Street will be closed to through traffic.

Officials said drivers should expect delays during afternoon peak-hour times.
