Construction work to close roads downtown Wednesday | News
The 100 blocks of West Dayton and North Fairchild streets will be closed Wednesday for AT&T to install copper cable, according to a release.
The cable will be placed at the intersection of State and North Fairchild streets to install telecommunications service to 129 State Street, officials said.
The closure is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. for through traffic on Dayton Street and on North Fairchild Street between North Carroll and West Mifflin streets, according to the release.
During the closure West Dayton Street traffic will be detoured south on Wisconsin Avenue towards Capitol Square, then west on West Mifflin Street and south on North Carroll Street around the Square to West Washington Avenue, officials said.
Vehicle access to the Associated Bank drive-through and the State Street Capitol parking garage will be maintained at all times, according to the release. Pedestrian traffic will be maintained at all times during the closure.
Officials encourage motorists and bicyclists to use alternate routes to avoid delays during the closure.
