Police closed downtown parking ramp to investigate armed incident

Access to a downtown parking ramp was restricted early Sunday morning for a disturbance investigation involving a gun, officials said.

Madison police responded to reports of a disturbance involving a gun Sunday around 2:45 a.m. in the Government East parking ramp at 105 E. Doty St., according to a release.

Three people were at a downtown restaurant and they started arguing over the bar tab, investigator said. The three people continued the argument in a parking ramp on the way to their car.

During the confrontation, Jeremy Tiffany, 39, of Madison, displayed a handgun but did not point it at anyone, according to the release.

Tiffany was arrested on armed disorderly conduct charges. Mitchell Christen, 24, of Monroe, was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct.

Officials said no one was hurt during the incident, and the gun was not fired.

Access to the parking ramp was restricted during the investigation but it has reopened, according to the release.
