American Poet, Activist To Speak At UW's Union Theater | Events
The next speaker for Wisconsin Union Directorate Distinguished Lecture Series is Nikki Giovanni, at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21 in the Wisconsin Union Theater at the Memorial Union.
Educator, activist, writer; American poet Nikki Giovanni has spent the past 30 years focusing the eyes of the world on her fight for civil rights and equality.
An outspoken writer and lecturer, Giovanni continues to bring the truth to light. aintaining a prominent voice in the African-American community, she focuses on the individual -- specifically on the power one has to make a difference in oneself, and thus, in the lives of others.
For events in the Wisconsin Union Theater tickets will be available at the Box Office, located in Memorial Union, 800 Langdon St, on the Monday the week prior to any DLS lecture. Tickets are reserved for students, faculty, staff and Union members with a valid UW-Madison or Wisconsin Union ID during the first three days of ticket distribution, unless otherwise noted. The limit is one free ticket per ID, up to four per person. Any remaining tickets will be available to the public the Thursday before each lecture. Tickets are valid until 7:20 pm. After this time, empty seats will be available to patrons without tickets.
