The University of Wisconsin-Madison Police Department is reporting an increase in thefts of bicycles on campus.

The UWPD is asking riders to be aware of suspicious activity and report the behavior to police. Anyone who owns a bicycle in the downtown area is advised to use a heavy duty bicycle lock, and to secure it to an approved bicycle parking rack. If you have information about these thefts, please contact the UW Madison Police Department or Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 608-266-6014. Further safety information can be found at www.uwpd.wisc.edu or at SafeU website at www.safeu.wisc.edu.
