An East Mifflin Stree resident contacted Madison police early Wednesday morning after finding that someone had spray painted his home with orange and hot pink paint.
A profanity and other letters were sprayed on the home, police said.
The victim told an officer he also found a cellphone on the sidewalk.
Utilizing information contained in the phone, the officer was able to identify its' owner.
The man was contacted, and after initially denying being involved in criminal damage to the property, he confessed to spray painting the home, a stone wall at Breese Stevens stadium, a home in the 800 block of East Dayton Street and a large warehouse-type building at the corner of Livingston Street and East Dayton Street, police said.
The suspect denied spray painting vehicles, which occurred recently on the city's near east side.
