A man told police he thought he'd parked after he was reportedly found intoxicated and asleep behind the wheel Saturday afternoon.

Madison police said officers found 53-year-old Jerry J. Wright snoring in a car on the 100 block of North Fairchild Street at 2:23 p.m. The front of the car was protruding into a traffic lane and the rear bumper was resting against another car, which was legally parked.

According to the report, concerned citizens could see Wright was "completely out, and in deep slumber."

Wright allegedly told the officer he thought he'd finished his parallel parking job and was really tired, so he went to sleep. The officer also said a large can of beer was in the car.

Wright was arrested on suspicion of fourth-offense drunken driving.
