Police: 2-foot sword seized from sleeping man downtown | Crime
A homeless man was arrested after an officer reportedly found a two-foot sword among his belongings downtown Tuesday night.
Madison police said an officer saw a man had items plugged into a city of Madison power outlet on the 500 block of North Frances Street at 6:22 p.m. The officer awoke 69-year-old George K. Grover, who was dozing.
Police seized a 24-inch sword that was beneath Grover's sleeping bag, the report said. Police said Grover initially claimed the sword belonged to another slumbering man but later allegedly acknowledged it belong to Grover.
Grover was arrested on suspicion of carrying a concealed weapon. He was also cited on suspicion of use of electricity with out permission.
