Police: Man licks woman's face, cuts another with object | Crime
Police said a homeless man was arrested Wednesday for a series of disturbances including licking a woman's face downtown.
The Madison Police Department said 51-year-old Herbert G. Wilkins was intoxicated and shirtless when he licked the face of a 59-year-old Madison woman. The woman uses a cane and told police that Wilkins, who she is acquainted with, also pushed her to the ground.
Madison police spokesman Joel DeSpain said that in a separate confrontation Wednesday night, Wilkins punched a 53-year-old homeless man twice in the face and cut his finger with a shiny object.
The 53-year-old told police Wilkins stole his bicycle, which was later recovered, according to the report.
DeSpain said the suspected crimes took place at Peace Park on State Street, where an "eclectic group of people often congregate."
"It is an area that receives a lot of attention from the MPD," he said.
Wilkins was charged with substantial battery, battery and two counts of disorderly conduct.
The 53-year-old man who suffered the finger cut needed stitches to close the wound, according to the report.
