Woman finds pants-less man in parked car, police say | Crime
Police said a man was arrested after he was found in another person's car in downtown Madison nude from the waist down.
Madison police spokesman Joel DeSpain said a 27-year-old Verona woman was returning to her car Monday at about 11:33 p.m. and found a stranger in the front seat.
A 28-year-old man from Pleasant Prairie was in the parked car on West Gorham Street clad only in a T-shirt, according to the report.
Officers had responded to a report of a man checking door handles in the lot, police said. When the man got inside the woman's car, the witness saw him take off his trousers and recline the seat.
"When officers ordered the man out, he initially did not seem to realize he was naked from the waist down," DeSpain said. "He then remembered his pants were still inside the car."
Officers had the man put his bottoms back on and he was arrested on suspicion of lewd and lascivious behavior. The man told police he thought the car belonged to his girlfriend and at first he thought he was in Waukesha.
DeSpain also said the woman told police it appeared like the man tried to start the car with lipstick, as there was lipstick smeared all over the ignition.
"When the man learned of all of this, he was very embarrassed," DeSpain said. Police said the man admitted to taking ecstasy pills earlier in the day.
