Burglar enters Hancock St. apartment as residents sleep | Crime
Police said a burglar entered a downtown apartment in the early morning as the residents slept.
The Madison Police Department said a 22-year-old man woke to sound of his bedroom door opening early Wednesday. A burglar was inside his apartment on the 100 block of North Hancock Street at 5:46 a.m., according to the report.
The victim yelled and intruder fled, police said.
Another resident of the apartment, a 24-year-old woman, was sleeping in a separate bedroom, the report noted. She discovered her wallet was missing from a dresser.
The burglar gained entry into the residence through an unlocked door, according to police.
