Madison named best college football town | Community Spirit
Madison was ranked as the best college football town according to an online poll conducted by USA Today. Sports writers contributed to the decision, listing their favorite college football game day cities.
According to a press release, Adam Kramer from Bleacher Reporter nominated Madison as one of his favorite game day locales. Kramer said "Bloody Mary's, cheese curds and a sea of red" were all a part of the Madison experience.
More than 50,000 votes were cast and Madison beat out other football favorites such as Austin, TX and Gainesville, FL.
The Greater Madison Convention & Visitors Bureau played a role in the win, mobilizing supporters to vote for Wisconsin's capitol city.
USA Today reporter Laura Bly will visit Madison for the Oct. 6 home game against Illinois, said a press release. Bly will write a feature story about Madison for the Oct. 12 edition of USA Today.
Said GMCVB Public Relations and Communication Manager Judy Frankel, "Madison is such a great community and people who live here or have been here are filled with passion and pride for our amazing city."
