Jack O'Hearn Art To Be On Display On UW Campus
From Feb. 25 to March 1 the walls of the Art Lofts Gallery will adorn Jack O'Hearn's beautifully elegant oil paintings depicting domestic scenes from impoverished third-world squatter communities. After seeing these paintings, it would be hard to guess that O'Hearn has neither visited nor seen these places in person, however, that seems irrelevant since his main interest lies in understanding how these places are formed in the American psyche through history books, magazines, television and movies.
For each painting in a series of seven baring the subtitle Informal Domesticity, O'Hearn would arrange a still-life in his studio depicting something he either read in a book, saw in an image, or heard from someone else's experience.Top Downtown / Campus Stories
